Eric Buterbaugh Oud Saffron Flower perfume. One that makes you smile every time you wear it…
For me for years it has been Oud Saffron by Eric Buterbaugh. Nothing short of a masterpiece. So much so that I have not really looked for many others, knowing deep down that they will not stand a chance because I already own the perfect one.
Despite of what you might think, this fragrance is only a veil of saffron, mixed into honey and poured over heated vanilla pods that just started to char and smoke in the burner. Not really wildly pungent, nor dark leathery, considering its original name. Oud Saffron is only a little bit of both, in a very refined and head turning way. Mirage of saffron hidden between layers of sweetness and woody notes. Brilliant work of Ilias Ermenidis for EB Florals.
Leaning bit more masculine it is the perfect balance of spicy saffron with honey and suede. Oud here is the vague background note and it is more woody compositon. Rather than being typical oud which we are seeing left right and sideways over the last years, this is very unique.
